Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event? Series Announcer Johnny Gibson will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.
This week: World of Outlaws Mississippi Thunder Showdownat Mississippi Thunder Speedway, Aug. 19
JOHNNY’S FIVE:
David Gravel
Why: Until proven otherwise, number one on this list every week. The defending champ is doing historical things. A new track means a clean slate, but anyone betting against the points leader should know better.
Bill Balog
Why: The only full-time World of Outlaws competitor with laps (AND a win) at Mississippi Thunder. Balog’s IRA win here came in 2012, but the “North Pole Nightmare” is proving he belongs with the best sprint car drivers in the world in 2025.
Carson Macedo
Why: Macedo looks to continue a hot streak coming off a sweep of last weekend’s Minnesota doubleheader. Does that “Minnesota magic” extend (barely) into Wisconsin?
Logan Schuchart
Why: The driver of the Shark Racing No. 1S has a streak of his own going, with seven straight top 10 finishes (including three top fives with two second-place efforts). Logan hasn’t been to a World of Outalws Victory Lane since May 24 at Attica. Does Schuchart make his return tonight?
Donny Schatz
Why: The next five races find Donny again in the Lunstra Motorsports No. 15. A Saturday scramble following Friday’s Big Game big crash still found Donny in the top 10. He and the team have at least had a couple of days to think about this one.
