Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event? Series Announcer Johnny Gibson will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.
This week: World of Outlaws Presented by FENDTat Jackson Motorplex, Aug. 16
JOHNNY’S FIVE:
David Gravel
Why: Until proven otherwise, number one on this list every week. The defending champ is doing historical things. Gravel has been third in his last three Jackson starts, and a couple of runner-up results are his best at Tod Quiring’s Minnesota masterpiece.
Donny Schatz
Why: As if the spotlight on the ten time champion wasn’t bright enough, the crash on the opening lap of last night’s feature has the internet buzzing. How the hastily-assembled team rebounds will be the subject of much speculation. Donny has four wins at Jackson, so like Carl Spackler with total consciousness he’s “got that going for (him).”
Kerry Madsen
Why: If one were going to put the Mad Man in a new ride and send him out to prove any nay-sayers wrong, Jackson might be the perfect place. Among his seven total wins at Jackson Motorplex are three World of Outlaws scores (plus the second place finish here in June).
Carson Macedo
Why: Macedo has had MUCH success at Jackson, including a visit to victory lane in June (marking four straight years of World of Outlaws wins here). Can Carson complete the weekend sweep?
Ryan Timms
Why: The Knoxville Nationals Champion returns to action on the heels of his earth-shattering triumph in sprint car racing’s biggest event (which, oh by the way, just happened to be his first World of Outlaws win as well). Timms is a three time Jackson winner, including an MSTS score in July to go along with a pair of NOSA wins in 2022.
Tickets for Jackson on Saturday can be purchased by clicking here, or you can watch all the action live – and listen to Johnny announce – on DIRTVision.
