Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws Late Model Series event? Series Announcer Ruben Mireles will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.
This week: NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway, July 3-5
RUBEN’S FIVE:
Bobby Pierce
Why: While I didn’t pick Pierce on the northern swing, it’s hard not to pick him at Deer Creek. Pierce has only made two starts in the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50, and he’s won both times. Pierce is undefeated in this event, and let’s not forget that a season ago, he won the three major World of Outlaws crown jewels. He won the Gopher, PDC, and USA Nationals! After a struggle on the northern swing, he’s had time to look over the primary car and get it tuned to his liking at a track he’s very good at.
Ryan Gustin
Why: “The Reaper” has tons of laps around Deer Creek Speedway in a Modified and won a thrilling day race at the Gopher last year. Gustin finished fourth in last year’s Gopher 50, and Gustin also has finished inside the top 10 nine of the last 10 outings with the Outlaws. Gustin has a good chance of earning his first Gopher 50 this weekend!
Nick Hoffman
Why: Hoffman is red hot right now after winning two of the last three Outlaw events. It’s hard to go against the top three in our point standings. Hoffman made his first Gopher 50 start last season and rounded out the top five. After a dominate win at the Dairyland Showdown in this region earlier this season Hoffman could strike again this weekend with two nights leading up to the big $50,000 pay day!
Tim McCreadie
Why: The 2010 NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 champion makes his return to Deer Creek red hot as well. Our most recent winner on tour finished sixth in his last Gopher start in 2023. McCreadie has three wins on the season with confidence and momentum on his side.
Dustin Sorensen
Why: Can the weekend be a Cinderella story for local favorite Dustin Sorensen? With plenty of laps around Deer Creek and many victories in the Modified, Sorensen has a good shot this weekend. He proved last year at the USA Nationals, and Brownstown, his first series win is on the horizon. He’s been watching the Outlaws as a little kid at this event and would love nothing more than his first World of Outlaws win to come right at home!
You can follow these drivers and more all weekend by getting your tickets in advance or at the gate.
If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch every lap live – with Ruben Mireles – on DIRTVision.
