JOHNNY’S FIVE: Eldora Speedway (Kings Royal Weekend)

by World of Outlaws

Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event? Series Announcer Johnny Gibson will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.

This week: Kings Royal weekendat Eldora Speedway, July 18-19

JOHNNY’S FIVE:

David Gravel
Why: Until proven otherwise, number one on this list every week. The defending champ is doing historical things. The defending Kings Royal champion will be racing with a chip on his shoulder after the results on the past two nights here.

Carson Macedo
Why: The 2023 Knight Before the Kings Royal winner has top-five finishes in nearly 50% of his Eldora starts. Macedo may have had the fastest car on the track Thursday before an accident sidelined him.

Kyle Larson
Why: Larson’s nine career Eldora wins across multiple disciplines makes him an instant contender. Kyle’s 2021 Kings Royal win, coupled with a trip to Victory Lane here Thursday (and four series victories in 2025) provide all the proof needed.

Rico Abreu
Why: Another driver who has had Eldora wins in multiple divisions. Rico has been “streaky” in 2025, but when he’s “on”, he’s one of the fastest drivers in all of Sprint Car racing — 11 wins in 2025, with two World of Outlaws scores among them.

Buddy Kofoid
Why: Though he’s never won at Eldora (a second place with the All Stars two years ago is his best in 31 starts here), Kofoid has consistently been one of the the best drivers in 2025. ESPECIALLY when the big money is on the line. Buddy is another driver looking for Eldora redemption following an early crash Thursday.

You can follow these drivers and more this week at Eldora Speedway by getting your tickets in advance or at the gate.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all the action live – and listen to Johnny announce – on DIRTVision.
