QUALIFYING (TWO LAPS): All Time Trial procedures will follow those set forth in the 2025 World of Outlaws NOS® Energy Drink (WoO) Sprint Car Series Rulebook – with the exception that the qualifying order will not be split into “A” and “B” flights.
Cars will Time Trial in order of the random pill draw* conducted prior to the drivers meeting. A driver’s fastest lap will determine the seeding of six (6) Heat Races in a staggered order.
* The winner of the Knight Before the Kings Royal earns the privilege to make their qualifying attempt at any point during Time Trials for the 42nd Kings Royal regardless of the established pill draw. He or she must still participate in the pill draw and must present their car ready to qualify in front of the Media Center to be eligible. If Knight Before winner waives the privilege, it does not transfer to another driver.
HEAT RACES: Using the traditional Kings Royal format, the results of qualifying Time Trials will be staggered by time into six (6) Heat Races.
The fastest qualifier will be in Heat Race #1; the second fastest qualifier will be in Heat Race #2; third fastest qualifier in Heat Race #3; fourth fastest qualifier in Heat Race #4; fifth fastest qualifier in Heat Race #5; and sixth fastest qualifier in Heat Race #6.
Continuing the example, 31st fastest will be in Heat Race #1; 32nd fastest will be in Heat Race #2; 33rd will be in Heat Race #3; 34th fastest will be in Heat Race #4; 35th fastest will be in Heat Race #5; and the 36th fastest qualifier will be in Heat Race #6.
HEAT RACE INVERT: For the 42nd Kings Royal, the invert will be determined following the conclusion of qualifying Time Trials when the fastest qualifier spins Eldora’s “Wheel of Misfortune” at least one full rotation.
The “Wheel of Misfortune” offers 16 possible outcomes that can range from 0 to 6.
HEAT RACES (10-laps): There are six (6) Heat Races of 10-laps in distance. The top-three finishers advance to the 42nd Kings Royal.
First Heat Race: 1st) starts 6th; 2nd) starts 7th; 3rd) starts 13th.
Second Heat Race: 1st) starts 5th; 2nd) starts 8th; 3rd) starts 14th.
Third Heat Race: 1st) starts 4th; 2nd) starts 9th; 3rd) starts 15th.
Fourth Heat Race: 1st) starts 3rd; 2nd) starts 10th; 3rd) starts 16th.
Fifth Heat Race: 1st) starts 2nd; 2nd) starts 11th; 3rd) starts 17th.
Sixth Heat Race: 1st) starts 1st; 2nd) starts 12th; 3rd) starts 18th.
The two fastest qualifiers not advancing from the Heat Races will start 19th and 20th in the Kings Royal.
Cars finishing 4th, 5th & 6th – that are not the two fastest qualifiers who do not finish in the top-three in their Heat Race – advance to the Last Chance Showdown. Cars finishing 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th advance to the C-Feature.
C-FEATURE: There is one C-Feature. Cars finishing 1st thru 6th advance to the Last Chance Showdown.
LAST CHANCE SHOWDOWN: There is one Last Chance Showdown. Cars finishing 1st thru 4th advance to the Kings Royal.
KINGS ROYAL (40-LAPS, $200,000-TO-WIN): The top-three finishers from the six Heat Races will makeup the first 18 starters in the Kings Royal as follows:
